What is Carbon Neutral?
Carbon neutral is when the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere are balanced (or offset) by the amount that is taken away.
To achieve carbon neutral certified LPG, we purchase carbon credits that are equal to the emissions produced from supplying and consuming our LPG. The carbon credits offset the emissions.
The carbon credits purchased by ELGAS relate to projects that meet the requirements of Climate Active, an Australian Government initiative.

How to go Carbon Neutral with ELGAS
When you opt in for our Carbon Neutral Product, ELGAS will offset the greenhouse gas emissions from every LPG purchase you make under your plan. The Carbon Neutral Offset Fee will continue to apply until you opt out by contacting Our Customer Service Centre on 131 161. Our Carbon Neutral Product is certified by Climate Active, a partnership between the Australian government and Australian businesses to drive voluntary climate action.

What is Climate Active certification?
Climate Active is an Australian Government program that drives voluntary climate action. It acknowledges that addressing climate change is a collective effort, requiring action from Government, business and the community to lessen our negative impact on the environment.
The Climate Active program supports and guides businesses such as ELGAS as we seek to account for and reduce carbon emissions. Climate Active also helps the community take action, by making it easier to identify and choose brands that are making a real difference.
Climate Active’s carbon neutral certification is one of the most rigorous in the world. The Climate Active claims are subject to independent third party verification to ensure the integrity of the carbon neutral claim. Climate Active certification is an important step for ELGAS and our customers as Australia transitions to Net Zero emissions by 2050.
